II.2.4) Description of procurement: Mulberry Schools Trust was formed following the 50th anniversary of Mulberry School for Girls in 2014/15, Mulberry School for Girls, is a high achieving, academically focused and successful girls’ school for students aged 11 to 18. Based in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, it is a place where students are encouraged to develop their ambitions and strive for success. The Trust is a family of schools whereby 7 sites are included in this tender: Mulberry UTC, Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, Mulberry Wood Wharf Primary, Mulberry Academy Woodside, Mulberry Canon Barnett, Mulberry Academy London Dock and Mulberry and Bigland Green Centre. The remaining 2 schools (Mulberry School for Girls and Mulberry Stepney Green)are currently under PFI contracts. Please note that these schools, plus any other schools that may join the Trust during the tenure of this contract may, at the client’s discretion, join the new cleaning contract when the time is right.
The successful tenderer will be required to provide cleaning services to Mulberry Schools Trust. The contract term being tendered is for three years, 1st September 2025 – 31st Aug 2028. There is an option for a further extension period for up to two additional years to 31st August 2030.
The contract offers an excellent opportunity to review and propose enhancements to the current cleaning services at the Schools. This includes both core term time cleaning and periodic deep cleaning throughout the year.
The Trust is keen to secure a high quality cleaning service whereby it’s students are able to enjoy excellence in education, supported by excellently kept facilities. The Trust ideally seeks one provider for all schools, but each school reserves the right to take its own appointment decision and not to appoint as a result of this tender process.
We expects both a tightly managed service and high levels of productivity to be delivered at all times. The Trust is also proud of its ‘family ethos’ and expects a management style delivered by the successful contractor that supports, encourages and develops the staff. The Trust is not obliged to accept the lowest price submitted for this tender, rather they are keen to secure best value from this contract and to deliver best value to their students. Innovative and creative ideas as to how the cleaning services can be developed and improved, will be welcomed. The school seeks a contractor that is keen to work in partnership and who will deliver to its highest abilities, at all times.
The annual value of the current contract is: £797,794.29 (the total cost per annum for the last contract year). Therefore the value of this contract is £3,988,971.45 (total annual costs from the last contract year as above x 5 as this contract is for a maximum of 5 years). The contract shall be a fixed price contract with invoices raised monthly to the school.

•The Trust has a minimum requirement for a contractor’s employers' liability and public liability insurance of £5 million
•The minimum annual turnover that your company must have achieved to be considered for this opportunity is £4 million
•There are incumbent cleaning staff currently within the Local Government Pension Scheme
•The cleaning services at Mulberry UTC, Mulberry Academy Shoreditch, Mulberry Academy London Dock, Mulberry and Bigland Green Centre and Mulberry Wood Wharf Primary are currently contracted to Birkin. The cleaning services at Mulberry Academy Woodside are run part in house and part contracted to Lloyd Services and the cleaning services at Mulberry Canon Barnett are managed internally.
