COUP2019: Mission accomplished!

conference on university purchasing webinar

Lift off… Anne McKinnon and David McKenna of Delta eSourcing’s sales team transported themselves to this year’s Conference on University Purchasing (COUP) event on 4 and 5 September.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for Heads of Procurement, Category Managers and buyers from across the UK to meet with colleagues from other institutions and suppliers to the sector. Anne and David soon had the Delta eSourcing stand mission-ready as they docked at the University of Leicester.

The inspiration for this year’s theme, Mission Ready: HE Procurement for the Next Generation, was taken from one of the event venues, the National Space Centre, as well as the University of Leicester’s role as a key contributor to UK space research.

The conference programme was diverse in content, with workshops delivered by experts covering a range of topics from Career Development to Counter Fraud and from Sustainable Action Plans to Dynamic Purchasing Systems. Along with the sessions there was an impressive line-up of high-profile keynote speakers, including Professor Brian Cox and Dr Kevin Fong!

It was all systems go when COUP2019 opened its doors as Anne and David manned the Delta stand to intercept enquiring minds. They enjoyed exploring Delta’s eProcurement modules with the many visitors to the stand… and catching up with old friends including Matthew Johnson from NEUPC, Minesh Shah from the Royal Veterinary College, Richard Backholer from the University of Bath and Andy Davies from the Natural History Museum.

We launched a fantastic prize draw to win a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) exercise; the lucky cosmonaut to walk away with the prize was Christian Martin, Head of Procurement at the London School of Economics.

Oh, and Delta’s Pick’n’Mix booster was out of this world… so much so that Anne and David entered an intergalactic agreement with XMA to trade some flying saucers for space shuttle stress balls.

Mission accomplished!

Anne and David touched down safely back at mission control and would like to thank COUP and NEUPC for putting on such an extra-special event.
