The serpentine Reservoir is a recreational lake which extends from the long water in Kensington to The Serpentine in Hyde Park. This reservoir is approximately 1.4 km long and with a surface area of approximately 16 hectares. It has maximum storage volume of 0.361 Mm^3. The reservoir was built in 1790 and was formed from impounding the Westbourne River with an earth fill dam. As well as direct rainfall, the Serpentine receives runoff from a local park catchment with an area of 1.7 km2. Additionally, the Serpentine receives groundwater abstractions including the Italian Gardens boreholes and the Diana Memorial Fountain borehole. The water level in the Serpentine Reservoir is controlled by the main service overflow which is located over the central part of the embankment. The main service overflow comprises an approach channel, a fixed crest weir, a culvert structure that passes under the crest of the dam (known as the Dell Culverts, comprising three parallel brick barrels) and an open cascade / drop structure that leads to an open channel which flows through ‘The Dell’ area. The discharge channel passes through a screen which discharges to the Ranelagh Sewer, via an underground chamber known as the ‘Cavern’. TRP are looking to understand suppliers in the market for these types of work. For further information on this Prior Information Notice please contact procurement@royalparks.org.uk.
