Most residents live in towns or large villages such as Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Broughton Astley, Great Glen, Kibworth or Fleckney, although a significant part (25%) of the population resides in small rural settlements. Over 80 villages in the District have a population of less than 500 people.
Market Harborough Leisure Centre includes a 6-lane 25m swimming pool, 20smq teaching pool, leisure pool with beach entry, 4-court sports hall, 70-station gym, 2 studios, spin studio, health and wellbeing studio, café and a 3-court indoor tennis hall.
Lutterworth Sports Centre includes a 5-lane 25m swimming pool, 4-court sports hall, 72 station gym and 3 studios.
The Authority has identified the following key Strategic Objectives for the services to be delivered by the successful leisure operator which are designed to contribute to the Authority’s wider Strategic Outcomes:
1.Reduce inequalities in physical activity participation across Harborough
2.Contribute towards the health and wellbeing of residents in the District by increasing physical activity levels in Harborough
3.Increase access and opportunity to take part in physical activity for vulnerable people in the District, while supporting the Council’s preventative interventions programme.
